Knitting Pattern - Andrew's Kaleidoscope Cardigan - Classic Cardigan

The beauty of this pattern is its simplicity and dynamic chevrons. The cardigan is constructed from four rectangular sections, two mirror-images each, for the front and back. The sleeves are created in the same manner, using 2 mirror-image panels. All the sections are sewn together with ribbons of the Honeycomb Stitch. Honeycomb Stitch ribbons are also used for the sleeve cuffs, the front/collar, and the bottom edge of the cardigan. The Honeycomb Stitch conveniently doubles as pre-made button holes.

The panels are created by alternating sections of the Eye of the Partridge (EoP) stitch bounded by two purl rows and a single repeat of the Honeycomb (H) Stitch. These alternating stitch patterns are worked on the bias to prevent the need to carry floats on the WS.

A word about the yarn colors. The customer for which this design was created wanted COLORFUL! The Main Color is used throughout, held together with one of 4 different colors, a different color for each section of the panels. This pattern could easily be worked in a single color if COLORFUL! isn’t your bag.

This cardigan was created using our Jackalope base, Tabula Rasa, held together with 4 alternating colors of our Skvader base in The Shire (green), Pure F'n Magic (pink/orange), Purple Reign (purple), and Callais Twilight (blue) on size 9 needles.
