Rasselbock

Rasselbock, literally translated from the German, means "rattle deer", so named for  their mating call, which is a distinctive rattling sound that carries from mountaintop to mountaintop.

The Rasselbock, the male of the species, has the head and body of a rabbit, with the antlers of a roe deer.  The female Rasselbock is called the Rasselgeiss.  They usually have smaller antlers than their male counterparts.

Rasselbocks, like their close relatives, they Wolpertinger, have large canine teeth which are used in mating displays and to protect their young, the Waldrasslinge.  These creatures are the preferred mounts of the Elfin and Fairy nobility, whereas the Wolpertinger are reserved for royalty.  Their favorite beverage is bock beer, of course.

Our Rasselbock base is created from the medium length mulberry silk fibers remaining after the reeling process.  The fibers are carded and spun together in to 12 plies, giving this yarn a unique texture and feel.

All our yarns are hand-dyed in small batches.  Catch all the Rasslebock colors in our Etsy Shop before they hop away!
